| do you have any knowledge on the man zone dfence that oregon state runs?? they dont use a strong side/ weak side... they have left side and right side. never changing.... with that they run a "man/zone" concept. i am familiar with and understand what a... for example... cover 2 man zone could be. but to my understanding of what ive read about oregon states dfence is that it is somthing more complex than that... any knowledge you have of this??? ______________________________________________ |

| i dont know the specs on Oregon State but thats just combo coverage... these are based off strong/weak or wide/short sides of the field... these sets are built off personnel totally based on key matchups...
imagine a cover 3 roll... where one CB has short and the other CB drops and the FS and SS roll over for the "deep 3"... but imagine an OLB covering flats and locking the CB that doesnt drop man to man vs a #1 WR...
same concept... nothing really "new" about it... i will say this... that crap gets TOUGH to read b/c sometimes they will even match up 2 slots to one side... and pass off assignments based on the WR release... and reading that from the pocket sucks...
you can hot route these types of setups in NCAA 10... hot route a CB to man up vs a WR that someone may throw to a lot... THEN hit "triangle" and RIGHT ANALOG to the side you chose to man up... this way if they try to stretch the field on you... you can lock down with one guy with help over top...

| sounds interesting.... i was taking it that they play man within a certain zone on the field...and once there innitial man left that zone a switch would occur or if that zone became vacant they would drop or come up.... somthing to that extent. ______________________________________________ |

| well thats not combo... thats just zone press... its a zone coverage that is an "uphill" zone... where the offense will feel like its working uphill...
its a zone that mimics man... but... eyes never lie... LB's will lie to you by moving around all the time... you want to read coverages... you read the FS... that dude will tell you the "base" of the coverage by his first steps... and thats whats tough with zone press... b/c it will appear as man free... but as soon as you try to make a throw they will release the guy and someone jumps your lane...
the zone press coverages in NCAA 10 do immitate real life pretty well...

| cool cool, ya i get the zone press... i run that alot online. i guess i was reading into it alittle to much... either way would you agree that it is a style to make up for a lack of athleticly matching up with an opponent?? ______________________________________________ |

| yeah b/c these pressing zones are identical to the zone blocking schemes meant for teams with smaller more mobile OL...
so... yeah they work great... are tough to read in real life... and even in NCAA 10...
